Victory Venkatesh has been confirmed as the hero in the Telugu remake of Kannada blockbuster Aptha Rakshaka, a sequel to the 2004 blockbuster Apthamitra, which was remade in Tamil as Chandramukhi starring superstar Rajinikanth.
This confirmation quashes rumours that superstar Rajnikanth would be the hero in both Telugu and Tamil versions of Chandramukhi 2. Bellamkonda Suresh of Sri Sai Ganesh Productions has bagged the remake rights of the Telugu version to be directed by P. Vasu, the original director.
"There was tough competition for the remake rights and we bagged the opportunity to remake Aptha Rakshaka. The shooting would begin in May. Aptha Rakshaka had collected over Rs. 40 crores. When I approached Venkatesh, he gave his immediate nod after watching the original. In fact, it is a tailor-made story for Venkatesh. Earlier, the combination of Vasu and Venkatesh was a big hit with Chanti. We are sure that this remake would also create waves in the Telugu film industry," Bellamkonda Suresh said.
