Shreya Ghoshal wins in Mollywood


Shreya Ghoshal has been an exceptional playback singer, often named the best in many award ceremonies. She had already bagged the award for the best female singer in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali.

The talented singer who debuted into Malayalam a couple of years ago and had sung around a dozen Malayalam songs has been awarded this year's best female playback singer award for crooning the hit song 'Chandhu Thottile' from the movie 'Banaras'. The singer has already made a mark in Malayalam with her songs from ‘Big B’ to the more recent ‘Neelathamara’.

The other names in the year's musical best, according to the state award jury, also sounded interesting. Veteran singer K.J. Yesudas was once again named the best male singer for the song ‘Swantham Swantham Balyathiloode' from ‘Madhya Venal'. This the twenty fourth state award for the very best sound ever heard from the state. While Rafeeq Ahamed was named as the best lyricist for the song ‘Thekkini Kolayil Chumarail…' from  ‘Sufi Paranja Katha', the award for the  best music director went to Mohan Sithara for the same song.

The award for the best background score went to youngster Rahul Raj for ‘Rithu'. The jury named music director Sarath as the best classical singer for the song ‘Bhavayami Paadumente…' from ‘Megha Theertham’.
